About Jose's Court Room
Jose's has been a fixture in La Jolla since the 1950s, and located on Prospect since 1972. The restaurant holds the second oldest liquor license in La Jolla (second only to the La Valencia hotel). Yes, there is a Jose, Jose Rodriguez, who skillfully runs the kitchen and is responsible for the tasty dishes that come out of it.
Why the "Court Room"? Legend has it that the restaurant's proximity to a former circuit court office made some of the local legal eagles regulars at Jose's bar, where they would decide cases over a brew. You can see some of these regulars commemorated on the "Last Supper" mural that hangs over the front window booths. Many of those regulars continued to be patrons well into the 1990s.
Jose's continues its legacy of serving well-prepared, mouthwatering Mexican favorites to locals and visitors of all ages. Come in and experience it for yourself!
